Bringing together the best of the band’s three critically acclaimed “Bossa Nova Sunset Club” shows (Bossa, Samba Tropicalia and Nordestino), The View From Madeleine’s Couch celebrates the music of Brazil in its many guises; from gentle, romantic bossa novas and vintage sambas, to the rhythmic baiao music of the northeast and the band’s own award-winning original music.

Through songs, stories and beautiful images, the origins of this music are explored through the eyes and hearts of Anje West and Kym Ambrose, the band’s founders, who have made this music their life’s work, and remain two of Australia’s most accomplished and respected artists in this field.

The band took us on a multi-layered journey of discovery. At the end of this outstanding performance, this samba completes a fascinating journey, and is not just about the roots of bossa nova, but also about this band, their origins in Brisbane, and ultimately, what the Anywhere Festival stands for.”  Karen Hutt (Scenestr)

To complement the familiar musical material… songs are seamlessly entwined with original works that are just as memorable in their celebration of optimism and reflection about the everyday beauty of nature and love.  West is genuine, even emotional at times in her approach, which only adds to the show’s appeal.”  Meredith Walker (Anywhere Festival)

This fabulous ensemble has been captivating audiences with wonderful Brazilian sounds and rhythms for 18 years. Tonight they transported us to Rio through their new show The Bossa Nova Sunset Club…we are very fortunate to have such exceptional musicians living in Brisbane.”  Di Clark (Brisbane Jazz Club)
