Mapleton Hall

A FREE Art Exibition and Sale is on Sunday 4th April from 10am to 4pm at the Mapleton Hall.
Local Artist Mapletonite Alan Mead will be on hand to show you a variety of beautiful oil paintings, landscapes, wildlife etc. Alan was inspired at a very young age to become an artist. With the fascination of how light affects colour on the shapes and objects it hits. He has an ability to observe and capture shade, shadows and the colours this generates. Alan’s Aunt Jean who also enjoyed art encouraged him. She regularly took him on trips into the English countryside to draw Landscapes.

It is only recently that Alan has rekindled that artistic spark. He was encouraged by friends Artist Ann Learmonth who introduced him to artist and teacher Suzi Hancock of Smart arts, Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia. Suzi’s patience, encouragement and recognition of his abilities energised Alan to paint and draw again. Water Colour Artist Graham Brownell from Tasmania was another great influence in Alan’s Landscape paintings.

Alan’s preferred genre is as a realist. He enjoys painting the natural world and landscapes.

The Sunlight and shadows are an important feature in his landscapes. Alan attempts to capture and show colours and shades. All the Landscapes chosen are from places that have held immense significance. Through painting these scenes it reignites the pleasure and wonder of those beautiful locations and creates a return path to past pleasures for him.

Alan believes he is not a conventional painter and uses many techniques within his works, especially oils. His aspirations to the future of landscapes is to attempt more impressionism and abstract works. He believes that one can only really achieve this by mastering reality first. Alan also uses other mediums such as pencil, pastels and he loves the simplicity and freedom of charcoal.

Alan has sold portraits, landscapes, still life and commissions and enjoys each challenge afresh. some mixed media pieces and All for sale.

NEW TO OUR COUNTRY MARKETS THIS SATURDAY 27TH FEBRUARY –

Wicked Nuts is a family owned and run manufacturer of gourmet hand crafted roasted nuts based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
We source our base ingredients from as close to home as we can and love supporting other Australian based small businesses.
Weather it is Kingaroy peanuts that we buy direct from the farmers and craft into unique flavours infused with our favourite alcohols.
Or Queensland Macadamia sourced from our local processing plant and kettle roast with local raw cane sugar and flaked salt from the Murray River basin to produced a favourite snack with a uniquely hand crafted feel.
Or South Australian Almonds that we roast with flavour combinations like Maple and Vanilla, Orange and Ginger, Cinnamon and Chilli or Cherry and Coconut for a unique treat with natural flavours that offer you or your family a more natural alternative to normal processed snack foods.
I never stop appreciating having my two young girls ask if they could please have some nuts to eat or take to friends places to enjoy.
Hopefully this is something you or your family will enjoy as well.
