SPORTSGROUND NEWS – RANGE UNITED SOCCER CLUB JUNIOR’S –

The Junior’s from Range United Soccer Club have been training very hard every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3.30 to 4.30 on the 3 acres of the Mapleton Hall Sportsgrounds with no charge to the Club. Teams will be starting back on the 11th July, with things being a little bit different than in the past. But the Club and parents are looking forward to seeing the smiles on their faces soon.

The Range Club was established in 1998 with their current club colours being Royal Navy/Green/Gold Trim. One of our volunteers fondly remembers her daughter winning a trophy over 20 years ago.

MAPLETON HALL & SPORTSGROUND MAINTENANCE/ UPGRADES UPDATE –

TREE MANAGEMENT PLAN
Earlier this year a Tree Management Plan had been reviewed, with an Inspection by an Arborist and a Full Report.
Also a partial boundary survey was conducted with the Tallow Wood tree trimmed in accordance with Sunshine Coast Council Regulations. The stand of 20 Blackbutt Trees were assessed as not requiring any branch reduction. These Blackbutts are included in SCRC Town Planning as “Protected Native Habitat Vegetation”.

ROOF AND HERITAGE AWNINGS
The entire halls roof has been completely rescrewed by a plumber. Plus repair of the two front awnings including replacement of ripple iron to comply with Sunshine Coast Council’s– Heritage Significance Regulations.
Further Maintenance has been planned for our 104 year old Historic Hall. We acknowledge and thank the SCRC Grants Program for their support of a grant for the roof and awnings. … See MoreSee Less

MEMORIAL TREE PLANTINGS AT MAPLETON HALL & SPORTSGROUND – OVER 40 YRS AGO.

Photo 1 – Mr & Mrs Reg Jones planting the family Memorial Tree. Mr Jones ( junior & senior ) were heavily involved in the local timber industry —- either felling trees, snigging logs, transport of felled timber to mills etc.

Photo 2 – Mr.Ted McCosker planting the family “ Memorial Tree”. The Mc Cosker family were active district members, supporting many organisations, as well as the Hall.

Mr Terry Wareham & Mr Bob Williams planting a Memorial Tree in memory of Mrs O’Donoghue.(note on footpath near Masonic Lodge).
Mrs O’ Donoghue was a very supportive member of “ The Progress Association” & Mapleton Hall. History note – She farmed the land that later became “ Tanglewood Gardens”.

On this day 41 trees were planted in memory of the early settlers and pioneers of Mapleton at the Mapleton Hall and Sportsground.
